Episode 24--Odds and Sods

Hello, you lovely deviants!

This week, I do something radical. There is no movie review, no scream queen of the week, no news and reviews.

Instead, I offer some original content.

It looks like Cthulhu's gettin' some head...literally.

First up, is Evidently Dungeontown, a collaborative spoof that Dillon and I wrote and recorded about a D&D game gone wrong.

Next up is my partly fiction, partly truthful, story I Wanna Be Malcolm McLaren.

Ads from our sponsors S-Mart and Trader Zombie's Supernatural Foods, are scattered throughout. I also offer up this Talking Points question, "Is the internet the future of television?"

This episode is the shortest of the series so far: only about thirty-five minutes in length.

I wanted to take a break this week from the usual formula, and give listeners a dose of original content. I hope you enjoy this week's installment.

As always, you can listen to this episode, and all episodes, here on the site. Or you can download us from Archive.org

Video of the Week
My short video of crows on Tresure Island in San Francisco.
I may release a second version of this, which will include either voice overs or music. But for now, take in the strangeness of nature.

Episode 23--Vincent Price Double Feature

Good Evening, darlings.

This week, Johnny Zombie reviews two classics starring the legendary Vincent Price.

As always, you can listen to the eldritch goodness here, or on download from archive.org

http://www.archive.org/details/TheFlyPaperDungeon--episode23--vincentPriceDoubleFeature

First up is the innovative classic, The Last Man on Earth. Based on the scripted by Richard Matheson, this is the first (and best) adaptation of his famous novel I Am Legend. Filmed in Italy in 1964, this black and white stunner became a major influence on George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead.

Next is the Saturday night chiller classic, The House on Haunted Hill. Directed by William Castle, this was one of his most successful films of his career. An eccentric millionaire wagers $10,000 bucks a piece to a group of strangers. The only catch is that they have to spent a night in a haunted house. This film carries on the tradition of the "Spooky old house."

Both films are in the public domain, so they are available to watch here on my site!

The House On Haunted Hill

The Last Man on Earth

In FROM THE VAULTS I dig up the Italian-produced, and made in Miami classic, Super Fuzz!
Starring Spaghetti Western veteran Terence Hill, and legendary character actor Ernest Borgnine. This film was a staple of my childhood, and HBO's regular line up back in the 1980's. It's a classic comedy that needs to be re-visited.

This Week's Videos!

DEAD WOMAN'S HOLLOW

Blood runs deep in the hollow, in Libby McDermott's new film. This independently financed shocker is based in part on a real murder in Pennsylvania's past. Written by John Taylor. This is a co-production of Libmatic films and Colorfully Dark Productions.

An Amber Heard Video
This video was shot by the talented, and beautiful, Tasya Van Ree. It features her girlfriend, the stunning and talented Amber Heard (soon to be seen in John Carpenter's The Ward).

I could say more, but I think this video speaks for itself.

Due to technical difficulties, the video is HUGE on this page. Still, that gives you more Amber Heard to enjoy!

Episode 22--EVIL BABIES!

Good evening, my lovelies!

This week, Johnny Zombie takes a trip to the maternity ward...in HELL!

EVIL BABIES is the topic this week! I pay a visit to cradle of fear, with two tiny-tot-based horror birthings.

First up is the 2009 shocker Grace, starring the lovely and talented Jordan Ladd. While not a perfect film, it is memorable. It also succeeds in delivering the gore factor in oodles of cuddly ickiness.

The second film discussed is Roman Polanski's classic adaptation of Ira Levin's Rosemary's Baby. A controversial film in its day, it still packs a punch. From Mia Farrow's magnificent performance, to the unsettling ending, this film has not lost any of it's (Satanic) power over its forty year history. (BTW: I don't spoil the ending!)

Both films are discuss spoiler free! Ok, some minor spoilers on Grace, but nothing that isn't shown to you in the trailer.

New segments on this new format include: Talking Points.
This week's Talking Point: The Star Wars Blu-Ray set. Is it worth re-buying the classic films we already have on DVD?

In FROM THE VAULTS I blow the cobwebs off an obscure gem or two.
This week's FROM THE VAULTS is the underappreciated Bruce Willis comedy Hudson Hawk.

In this episode I innuagurate our first SCREAM Queen of the Week!
This week's lucky lady is: Emma Stone!

This Zombieland stunner is a multitalented actress, singer, and future co-star of new Spider-Man reboot!

Episode 21--Holiday Horror

Good evening, kiddies!

This week, Johnny Zombie takes a bloody stab at holiday slashers--the good, the bad, and the morbidly sexy. Films discussed range from the ground breaking Black Christmas, to the schlocky Silent Night, Deadly Night!

My apologies for the lateness of this episode. In my defense, my computer was struck by the deadly cyberplague known as "Pro Tools." Details inside the episode.
After this episode, the podcast will be getting a major overhaul. The episodes will be about the same in length, but the shows will have new segments, and new music!

Look for a possible bonus episode this week as well. :)

Happy New Year to All!
