Episode 38--It Came From the 80's!

Good evening...

Tonight, Johnny Zombie celebrates his birthday (June 6th) with an episode about The 80's. While this is by no means an exhaustive look at the decade of youth and excess, it is a brief starting point for future episodes. Johnny Zombie counts down some of his favorite TV shows, movies, and toys from the era of his childhood. Subjects are broad in range, and include: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Nintendo, You Can't Do that on Television, and Danger Mouse!

As always, you can listen to the excess hair metal here. Or, you can download it from Archive.org

I also mourn the loss of James Arness. Best know for his roles as Marshal Dillon on Gunsmoke, and as the titular character of Howard Hawkes' The Thing From Another World.

Episode Seven--Saturday Morning Cartoons of the 1980's

Good evening, Children of the Night!

This week we have a FULLY loaded show, as we remember cartoons of the 1980's...in a horror, sci-fi, and sword and sorcery vein. We discuss such classic shows as The Real Ghostbusters, Droids, and Ewoks. We also touch on the childhood cultural phenomenon known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which will have its own episode...soon enough).

We also discuss not so classic efforts as Thundar The Barbarian (paging Robert E. Howard! Someone has ripped off our favorite barbarian), and The Dungeons and Dragons cartoon (a diamond in the rough, that could use some polish).

(Left) Sheila The Rogue, one of the early influences on my redhead addiction.

Thanks to D&D for my unsatisfied yearnings. (Right) Thundar channels Conan and Luke.

We also revisit the now famous Time-Life book series, The Enchanted World, in commericals hosted by Vincent Price! (see embeded video).

A D&D Cartoon fan video, featuring Sheila and Hank.

This is the longest episode of the podcast so far, two hours and four minutes! I hope you have as much fun as Dillon and I did. You can listen to the discussion here, or download us from Archive.org

As bonus features, I have embeded several videos and links this week.
